She did not just ask what kind of house I wanted, what my price range was, or where I wanted to live. She asked questions that helped her understand me as a person. She wanted to understand my DIY abilities, my life skills, how I process information, what kind of support I needed, and what kind of house would actually fit my real life.
That mattered because a house can look good on paper and still be completely wrong for the person who has to live in it, maintain it, repair it, and afford it.
As a first-time homebuyer, I had a lot of anxiety around the unknown parts of the process. Looking at houses was only one piece of it. The harder part was understanding what came next: offers, inspections, repairs, closing costs, budgeting, timelines, and all the decisions in between. Courtney explained things to me multiple times when I needed it, especially when we were putting in offers.
Courtney checked in with my understanding of things in a way that helped me slow down, think through the details, and look at decisions from more than one angle. She did not talk down to me. Her questions were genuine, even when she likely already knew the answer, she let me fully answer, listened to what I said, and then asked follow-up questions when needed.
Before I purchased my current house, Courtney helped me submit two other offers. One of the first houses we looked at was in the exact location I wanted. On paper, it felt like the perfect house. But it needed extensive repairs. Instead of dismissing it or pushing me toward it, Courtney let me fully explore the reality of that property. She suggested a general contractor come in and price out the repairs, and she even wanted to be present so she could better understand what the house would actually require.
The repair estimate came back around $140,000 and would have taken about six months. I also would have needed to live in the house during those repairs, potentially without some basic amenities for a while. Even though I loved the location, Courtney helped me walk away from that house because the reality of the property did not align with my current lifestyle, budget, or capacity.
That is what I appreciated most about working with her. Courtney protected me from a bad decision without taking away my autonomy. She had already earned my trust, so when her perspective contradicted what I wanted emotionally, it did not feel dismissive. It felt reassuring.
I am very grateful I chose her, and I would absolutely recommend Courtney to anyone looking for an agent who listens carefully, asks the right questions, respects your decision-making, and helps you see the full reality of a home before you commit to it.
